Radio broadcasting station № 1 was founded in 1914 and was located in Tashkent, providing radio communication service between Central Asia and Moscow. The first in Central Asia FM radio transmitter aired in 1927, and was installed at the radio Station № 1.
First most powerful radio station and 90 meter radio tower in Tashkent
The transmitting station № 3 was founded in 1947 – 1949, being located in the Tashkent region; it provided broadcasting in the range of long, medium and short waves.
In November 5, 1956 in Tashkent the construction of the first television center was launched.
180 meter high television tower was built, and one channel type TTP-5/2,5 transmitter, and single channel VHF FM broadcasting transmitter with the output of 4 kW, with a sure radius reception area of 60-70 km.

Broadcasting and Operating Studio Center was managed by the Board of Directors Radio Broadcasting Network (BDRBN), Uz DRTS, directed by Loginov Boris Ivanovich, by the DRTS initiative was created a group of television broadcasting group, directed by D.P. Filonenko. The group’s main objective was exploratory work to determine the air reception of television broadcasting from the city of Tashkent. The exploratory work helped to determine the location of the new radio and television broadcasting stations (RTBS) through the Republic:
- The Soviet (Kyrgyzstan) station – located at 210 km from Tashkent was defined as a possible TV reception with a subsequent further rebroadcast to the Ferghana Valley, and with this aim there was installed a transmitter with the capacity of 100W, equipped with antenna, adjusted to mount. Andijan. In 1959 «Andijan» transmitting station was build in couple with a tower H = 180 m, and was equipped with 5 kW TV transmitter with a service radius of 110-120 km.
- The Koytash point located at 1950 m. above sea level, had received a television signal from Tashkent RTS and that launched the construction of the RTS «Koytash» equipped with 100 W transmitter and a tower H = 25 m for the broadcasting the national television.
- In 1959 in Koytash was built the first single-stage radio relay lines (RRL) Koytash-Samarkand equipped by “Strela-1M”, and start transmitting first television channels to Chapan-Ata region, using 100W transmitters.
In 1957 jointly with Kirgiziya RRL based on R-60 equipment, Tashkent -Adrasman - Ferghana – Yuzhnaya (Kirgiziya ) RRL was build, with the arrangement of radio and television channels broadcasting between Tashkent and Frunze (Bishkek).
In 1960 survey works were carried out aimed to determination of the receiving point from city of Tashkent in the settlement of Lyangar (Takhku mountain Н=2003 м).
«Lyangar» Broadcasting Station
In 1961 a 100-W transmitter was installed with a antenna adjusted to the city of Bukhara. The cities like Navoi, Gidzhuvan, Vankent and Bukhara were supplied with the channels of the National television.
To improve the quality of a received TV signal coming from Tashkent in 1962 Koytash-Lyangar RRL was built. Since 1961 a serial production of radio-relay equipment based on the facility Р-60/120 3m parabolic-reflector antenna was launched, to overcome calculated service area of 50-60 km. Because of a complex geographical location of the Republic and in order to achieve financial efficiency, the spacing between stations (PRS) made 100-120 km. Therefore, necessity of manufacturing more complicated antennas with a larger output occurred. The State Special Designing institute (SSDI-I) calculated and designed antenna in cooperation with Tashkent mechanical plant manufactured antennas 6mx6m. Antennas were installed in the following places:
- at radio-relay stations of Аdrasman, Sovetskiy (Кirgiziya) RRL Таshkent – Аndizhan
- at Коytash, Таkhtаkаrаchа, Derbent, Dzhakurgan, Vakhshivary RRS, Tashkent-Dzhakurgan-Vakhshivary RRL.
At the same time, the Main Radio Cable Relay Routes Control (MRCRC) launched production of 5-meter parabola. This way were managed to overcome 110-120 km distances between RCF.
In 1961 Sovetskiy-Andizhan RRL was built, in 1962 – Таshkent-Sovetskiy RRL was built, this way National Television Channels were delivered to “Andizhan” broadcasting station and Yuzhnaya PRS (Kirgiziya.
In January, 1963 Main Radio Cable Relay Routes Control (MRCRC) was established, with the appointed Head in the person of B.I.Loginov and chief engineer – V.V.Grekov.
In September, 1963 under MRCRC Аndizhan and Samarkand Region Main Radio Cable Relay Routes Control (MRCRC). In 1963-1965 RRLs based on the equipment R-60 was built:
- Таshkent – Bukhara,
- Коytash – Таkhtаkаrаchа – Dzhakurgan – Vakhshivary and Lyangar – Zаrаfshan – Uchkuduk with installed TV transmitters.
